Public Welcome Free Event Hands-On/How-To Workshop

Our Wild Ones Middle Tennessee Chapter and friends will be assisting Swan Conservation Trust with invasive plant removal on a new property adjacent to their Big Swan Headwaters Preserve near Summertown, TN.  The Chinese Privet bushes and Princess Tree saplings are in the stream corridor, producing seeds every year, which travel downstream into a seep wetland that will be restored. Our volunteer work will provide partnership and matching funds for a federal grant to help purchase the new property! So join us for a day of fun! Cynthia Rohrbach, a biologist and board member for the trust, was our chapter's guest speaker in February 2019 (see meeting flyer for additional information) and gave us all a wonderful overview of the great work that the Swan Conservation Trust has done in acquiring grants and fundraising to purchase, restore (if needed), and permanently protect forests and natural areas in the watershed. We will arrive at 10:00 AM at the Swan Creek Baptist Church (easily found with GPS).  From there, we will caravan a short distance to the property which is not so easily found via GPS. After a brief orientation on tool safety, COVID-19 safety, and how to recognize and remove invasive plants, we will have at it.  Please bring work gloves, tools you might have (like hand pruners, lopping shears, tree saws " not required), facial covering for use when distance cannot be maintained, lunch, and fluids. Please signup at the link (sorry, we've reached our limit):
