Grasslands and their Conservation
in Tennessee and Kentucky
Jeremy French

Farm Bill Wildlife Biologist
Quail Forever & Southeastern Grassland Initiative

Jeremy will provide an overview of the historic grasslands of Tennessee and Kentucky.  What did they used to look like?  What do they look like now?  He will explain what needs to be done for grassland preservation.

Jeremy French is a partner wildlife biologist with Quail Forever, American Bird Conservancy, NRCS, and Southeastern Grasslands Initiative working on conserving grasslands and grassland species in 30 counties in Tennessee through an RCPP farm-bill program. Jeremy has spent the majority of his life in grassland ecosystems, whether it was growing up exploring the wet prairies of the Everglades in south Florida or conducting research on bison and their effect on Herpetofuana populations in the tall grass prairies of the Great Plains or helping create shortgrass prairie habitat in Wyoming. Jeremy specializes in reptiles and amphibians but is passionate about all grassland species especially bison. In Jeremy’s free time he likes to hunt, fish, hike, trap and camp with his fiancé Callie. Jeremy is also an amateur wildlife photographer who enjoys capturing natures beauty through the lens of a camera.
