Our Wild Ones / Owl's Hill native plant and seed sale will open for online shopping on Tuesday, May 6, at Noon and continue until Tuesday, May 13, at Noon. Plant pickup for online shopping will be on Friday, May 17, at Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary from 8 AM until 2 PM. The in-person sale will be Saturday, May 18, 10 AM - 12:30 PM, also at Owl's Hill.

Propagation Workshop Members Only

Members Only Registration Required Free Event Hands-On/How-To Workshop Seed Handling Wheelchair Accessible Public Restroom Free Public Parking Drinking Fountains
The Perennial Plant Society and the Wild Ones Middle Tennessee Chapter will have a joint native plant propagation workshop on Saturday, June 7, from 1:30 - 4:00 PM in the main meeting room of the Edmundson Library in Nashville. The workshop will begin with a lecture followed by a hands-on workshop. Participants will be able to take home a 50-cell propagation tray of seeds and cuttings to care for over the summer and transplant in the Fall.
W. Marshall Hamilton will be the instructor. Marshall has B.S. and M.S. degrees in plant and soil science from MTSU and Texas Tech University. He has worked on propagating pecan trees and inoculating with native pecan truffles, he taught at MTSU (Plant Science, Soil Science, Agroforestry), and worked as the propagationist at GroWild. He is currently the special projects manager for TreeTopBuilders.

Dan Defigio will give a presentation titled “Plants Are People Too”.
Dan will talk about how plants learn, remember, respond to stimuli, communicate, and make decisions. He will touch on some ethical and philosophical points around “personhood.” Dan will also give some practical applications for native plant gardeners in how they relate to plants and caretaking their land.

This is a joint hike with the Swan Conservation Trust and features the largest prairie remnant in Middle Tennessee. Native warm-season grasses and wildflowers showcase this historical grassland's summertime beauty! Richard Hitt, President of Wild Ones Middle Tennessee chapter and Cynthia Rohrbach, Biologist at Swan Conservation Trust, will be the hike leaders. This hike is easy.
Restrooms, drinks and snacks are available at The Farm Store.
