Our August chapter meeting will feature a presentation by Jason Allen:
Tour of the Cedar Glades
Jason will present a slideshow tour of the cedar glades of Middle Tennessee. He will talk about the wildflowers, nightjars, and other unique features of these globally unique ecosystems.
Bio: Jason Allen is a writer, editor, filmmaker and naturalist. He is a lifelong resident of Nashville, TN. He has been an independent wilderness guide for the past 20 years and has done work for Tennessee State Parks, Missouri Botanical Garden and many other organizations and agencies. In 2007, he created the Long Hunter State Park Mega-Hike, in which participants hike all 26 miles of the park’s trails in a single day. In 2008, he created Couchville Lake Arboretum, which became the first state-certified arboretum in a Tennessee State Park. Jason has a special interest in Middle Tennessee’s cedar glades and leads interpretive hikes in the glades year-round. He is a regular contributor to Tennessee Conservationist magazine and currently serves as the seasonal interpreter at Long Hunter State Park.
